American Idol Star and Cabo San Lucas Timeshares

Cabo San Lucas' El Arco

Katharine McPhee, runner up in Season 5 of American Idol, says her favorite places to relax are Cabo San Lucas, Mexico timeshares. Her heavy-duty travel schedule keeps her in and out of hotels, many of which this self-professed “clean freak” says she re-cleans herself because they do not meet her standards. Explaining that she always removes the spreads and blankets and relegate them to the closet, McPhee adds that she sometimes uses the hotel towels to cover a dirty floor or carpet.

It seems, however, that timeshares suit the singing star much better. In an article published by Showbiz Spy, McPhee says her favorite resort destination is, “Cabo (San Lucas, Mexico) because it’s two hours from my home in Los Angeles and you feel like you are in a different world. It’s quick and easy and I love the restaurants. My family has a timeshare so I try and get down there at least once per year.”

“Lying on the beach or sitting by the pool is so amazing. Every once in a while I will rent jet skis. There is nothing quite like jet skiing on the open ocean.”

Katharine is not alone in her love of Mexico timeshares; many vacationers believe them to be some of the most beautiful resorts in the world. And you have it straight from a clean freak that although many hotels fail to live up to her standards, her favorite Mexico timeshare is an ideal place to vacation and relax.

The newest resort to open in Cabo is Welk Resorts “Sirena del Mar”.  They grabbed about the last piece of ocean front left in the coveted corridor area some years ago and just opened 35 of 200 units.  It sits 3 miles from the town of Cabo San Lucas and all of the first phase units have ocean front views.  In fact, because of its location, not only can you hear whales spout from the pool area, but at this time of year you can see both sunrise and sunset.

Welk has deposited some exchange weeks into Interval International but don’t expect them to last long.  Nor will there be many weeks from their Cabo resort deposited in the future since Welk went to a club system with internal points like Disney Vacation Club and Hyatt Vacation Club.

Make sure you maximize your exchange power and request far in advance if you want to get a timeshare exchange into the beautiful new resort.

Sonoma Barrel Tasting Week End 3

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

I thought I’d end this series of posts on the timeshare exchange I did to WorldMark Wine Country Sonoma with a description and pictures of the drive on Coast Highway 1 north of the wine country.

I’ve travelled the world and done many beautiful drives but this one rates as one of my favorites.  I only got as far as the town of Gualala but if you want to make a full day of it, go all the way to the charming town of Mendocino.

Going west of Guerneville, a popular summer vacation spot on the Guerneville River, you’ll go through the little town of Monte Rio.

There you’ll find Northwood Golf Club an excellent, and challeging 9 hole golf course built by Allister MacKenzie. He’s the same architech that built Spy Glass in Pebble Beach and Augusta National where the Master’s Golf tournament is played.  Don’t miss playing this great course.  The course record is 63 for 18 holes set by Ken Venturi many years ago.

Here are a couple of pictures.

You’ll follow the river through Duncan’s Mills to where it empties into the ocean at Jenner.  Find you way down to the state park where you’re likely to find many seals and sea lions lounging on the beach with Sea Otters playing in the lagoon.  You can easily spend hours here.

Above the beach sits a great restaurant with really fine food and spectacular views call River’s End.

Here are some views from the restaurant.

They rent cabins as well.

If you want to pack a picnic lunch there are many places like Fisk Mill Cove to stop and enjoy it.

There are very few timeshare resorts in RCI or Interval International to exchange to in Napa and Sonoma and they’re hard to get.  So make sure you plan in advance and supercharge your exchange power in RCI and II before you put in your request.

How to Increase Your Exchange Power In RCI And Interval International Tip #3

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Here’s  Tip #3 on how to get more exchange power out of your timeshare week.  Again, I’ll reveal an Insider’s Secret that few if
any timeshare owners know of or use.

Here’s a recap of what we’ve covered so far.

First, you’ll always want to bank next year’s week in the previous year.  You’ll have to pay your HOA dues early but you will not be double billed.  You may however, receive a supplemental bill if your HOA dues went up after you paid them.

Second, always start your search in RCI and Interval International as early as possible even if you don’t know where you want to vacation. Ideally, this should be done the day you bank your week to get an early timestamp on your request.

You want to request resorts that are impossible to get and during the peak time of year.  Then simply change your request when you know where you really want to vacation.

TIP #3 NEVER CANCEL A SEARCH ONCE IT’S STARTED OR LET IT EXPIRE

In Tip #2 I explained how important it is to start your search in a as hard to get location soon as possible to get an early timestamp
on it.  As an example I suggested requesting Ocho Cascadas in February.

What should you do as you get closer to February and you still haven’t made up your mind where you want to vacation?

As February approaches you’ll want to change your request in Interval International to February of the following year.  If you cancel the request, or simply let it expire you will be back to square one when putting in your request for your desired vacation destination.

Additionally, I’d change the request for Ocho Cascadas in January because if you have a very powerful timeshare you just might get
confirmed through a last minute cancellation.

These are 3 very powerful ways to get what you want when dealing with the exchange companies.  But it is only the tip of the iceberg.
